As promised many blogs ago, I have uploaded some pics of Mom and Dad's house. (I actually did this post two months ago but just realized that I set it as a draft rather than an actual post. These are months old and they have since moved in but you can get an idea of what all they had to do to the house to make it livable. Not much was don't to the front of the house except that it got painted. That alone made it look a lot better. (This was a real bachelor pad!) The pic on the left shows what the kitchen looked like. (The 3 pics with dates on them are what the house looked like before)In the kitchen, they painted the cabinets, got new p.lam. counters and a glass tile backsplash, some new appliances to replace the ones that didn't work, and some updated lighting. The master bath got a new shower door, new tile, lighting, and medicine cabinet-style mirrors. But the biggest change was to the hall bath. It was 15 feet long! Just long enough to turn it into 2 normal sized bathrooms. So Uncle Paul has his own beach-themed bathroom equipped with a shower, all new fixtures, tile and lighting. And the hall bathroom is my favorite room in the house with Mom's garage sale transformed vanity, new fixtures, tile and lighting. It's so cute and cozy. Other features include removing the wood paneling in the living room, wood laminate flooring in the two formals where there was only concrete, all new paint inside, and new lighting. It sure was a lot of work for Mom to pick everything out but I think it was worth it because the house looks great! It certainly went from one of the worst to one of the best houses in the neighborhood. Mom spent so much time garage sale-ing and at Lowe's and Home Depot and other small tile shops searching for the best sales because if there's one thing I learned from my mom, it's that 'You never buy anything full price!'
