Getting ready for Canada

I am gearing up to go to Canada on the 16th with my mother-in-law, Janet, and two surprise guests! I've dusted off the manual for my camera in hopes of capturing some lighthouse and wildlife scenes... none of which will hold a candle to Uncle Larry's fabulous photography, I'm sure. At any rate, I'm excited to go there to relax and eat lots of crab and preserves. I miss Gamaw's cooking!

In other news, Uncle Paul has been in Rockport with Aunt Jimmy and Bob for about a week now. Last night I was at Mom's house packing some of her beautiful crystal for the big move when she asked with such a somber voice, 'I wonder what Uncle Paul is doing right now...' Mom was cooking and we all agreed that Uncle Paul was probably inquiring about his next meal!

PS. I will upload pictures of Mom and Dad's remodeled house once it's finished but just know that it is really beautiful!

Girl's weekend

This weekend Rick and I kept Rani and Isabella. Rick mostly stayed in his office the whole time while us girls did makeovers, scrapbooked all day long, and made chicken and dumplings for dinner. They also played nonstop with Zoe and Tiggs and I think their favorite part was walking the dog in 100 degree temperatures! We had a great time!

Fourth of July weekend...

Rick and I had planned to stay home and work on remodeling the kitchen. I was suffering from an infection at one of my wisdom teeth so I didn't feel like doing much, especially since I couldn't open my mouth and was restricted to a soup-only diet. (I have a dentist apt. today where they will hopefully refer me to an oral surgeon to remove all four wisdom teeth at once). Anyway, we had just returned from Home Depot to find a portion of our ceiling bowed and water pouring out of it and directly onto our (only) television below. It was very upsetting but at least it was the 9' ceiling instead of the 19' ceiling. So we tore out the Sheetrock in that area and are letting the ceiling and television dry out. Rick fixed the leak, which turned out to be at the drain pan of the air conditioner upstairs. He did a really good job rerouting the pvc piping and it looks so much better than before. Rick and I had actually talked the night before about getting a new flat screen tv (and he did get 3 bonuses and a raise in the past month) so off we went to hunt for a new tv. I didn't actually think he would get one that day but you know men and their tv's... He definitely got the biggest, best one he could find that would fit in the old tv's place. He's very excited and stayed up all night to 'fine tune' it!

Debbie's Cancer Status

I should mention that my Aunt Debbie had surgery two weeks ago at MD Anderson Cancer Center to remove her breast cancer. She is doing very well and is even back to work already! Awesome! She is a patient at The Rose, a very prestigious nonprofit breast cancer organization. My company remodeled their facility a few years ago and I am proud to have known many of its staff members. Once fully healed, Debbie will have reconstructive surgery. She is lucky to have a very supportive family who loves her very much!
